Three female convicted felons who were incarcerated for electronic crimes ("DD"), con tricks ("Cassie") and battery ("Shane") get paroled out of prison in exchange for work as secret operatives for the US government. In addition, the trio has to answer to a special agent in charge of success of their operations and of making sure that the terms of their conditional release are consistently abided by. Many fans [citation needed] attribute She Spies's cancellation to the replacement of Jack Wilde, their handler in the first season who was partially a comic element, with the contrastingly darker character of Quentin Cross in the second season.
